The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a press release regarding the Rebranding Of The Ministry Of International Trade And Industry – press release as follows:

In line with YAB Prime Minister's decision in the Cabinet Meeting dated 5 April 2023, the name of the Kementerian Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) has been rebranded and is now known as KEMENTERIAN PELABURAN, PERDAGANGAN DAN INDUSTRI or in English, MINISTRY OF INVESTMENT, TRADE AND INDUSTRY, retaining the same acronym which is "MITI".

This rebranding coincides with the Ministry's functions in leading and being responsible for encouraging foreign investments, empowering local investments, strengthening international trade and empowering sustainable industrial development.

EUROCHAM Malaysia has been working closely together with the related ministries and government agencies as well as being part of the recent workshop and government engagements to facilitate this decision. We are happy to see more positive outcomes from the outgoing engagements with the ministries and we look forward to more engagements to facilitate more positive results like these. The expatriate permit application process will be shortened from 87 days to five working days beginning June.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the five-day processing period was for new permit applications or permit renewal.
