The EUROCHAM Cyber Security and Defence Sector Committee held its first quarterly meeting on the 28th of February 2023 at the EU Delegation to Malaysia's office with guest speaker, Dr Cormac Callanan, Cybersecurity Coordinator from the Enhancing Security Cooperation In And With Asia (ESIWA).

In this meeting, Dr Cormac explained ESIWA’s objectives and its focus area. Moreover, the group led by the CEO of EUROCHAM, Mr Sven Schneider, and the Deputy Head of the Committee Ms Renata Brandstatterova also discussed the sector committee’s updates and tentative collaborations to strengthen cyber security as well as their awareness in Malaysia.

“Save lives: Decriminalise”

On behalf of our corporate partner B. Braun, we would like to highlight the recent special visit to B. Braun Medical Industries in Penang.

B. Braun Medical Industries in Penang had the honour of hosting German President His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender, during his recent state visit to Malaysia. On hand to welcome them was B. Braun Group CEO, Ms Anna Maria Braun and President of B. Braun Asia Pacific, Mr Lam Chee Hong.

B. Braun had the opportunity to showcase its expertise in Medical, Metal Technology and Pharmaceutical Solutions production, as well as highlighting its in-house Aesculap Academy, which focuses on training medical professionals.

On behalf of our fellow bilateral chamber, Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MGCC), we are excited to announce that MGCC will be organising the InterChamber Ladies Sundowner, to enjoy some nibble, network and reconnect during this networking session.

Day 2 - Scaling Up a Hydrogen Economy

We thank all our esteemed VIPs and participants who attended our EU Indo Pacific Energy Conference which was organised by the European Union in Malaysia together with EUROCHAM Malaysia.

The EU adopted a hydrogen strategy (July 2020), putting forward a vision for the creation of a European hydrogen ecosystem from research and innovation to scale up production and infrastructure globally. The EU has launched the EU Energy Platform to pool demand, coordinate infrastructure use and negotiate with international partners to facilitate joint hydrogen purchases. Hydrogen is an essential part of the energy transition as it offers a solution to decarbonize industrial processes and economic sectors where reducing carbon emissions is hard to achieve. Currently, hydrogen production from renewable sources is limited, but this is set to change with the global focus on its potential and the green energy transition.
