Advancing EU-Malaysia Healthcare Collaboration
Yesterday, EUROCHAM Malaysia organised a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Health Malaysia and a meeting with the Secretary-General, Dato' Sri Suriani Binti Dato' Ahmad. Supported by representatives from our corporate partners, members, and our healthcare sector committees, it was a highly productive meeting to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by the EU business community in Malaysia.

EUROCHAM Malaysia attended the "Towards a Circular Economy: Tackling Plastic Pollution and Waste Management" event organised by the EU Delegation to Malaysia in collaboration with the Embassy of Finland.
The event highlighted solutions to plastic pollution, the EU's Waste Shipment Regulation, and Malaysia's waste management challenges. Expert speakers and panelists, including Mr. Michael Bucki, Mr. Seah Kian Hoe, Ms. Nabila Zulkeflee, and others, shared key insights on policies and strategies to advance a sustainable circular economy.
EUROCHAM Malaysia raised crucial points on business compliance with sustainability practices in Malaysia, contributing to discussions on collaborative strategies for green initiatives.
As ASEAN grows, the FMCG sector is pivotal to its economic landscape, especially in the food & beverage industry. With ASEAN’s consumer market projected to be among the world’s top 10 by 2030, this sector faces regulatory and logistical hurdles that require innovative solutions.
On behalf of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, this session will dive into key topics: from harmonizing Front and Back of Package Labelling (FoPL & BoPL) systems to exploring non-tax incentives for healthier product reformulations. We'll also discuss collaborative approaches to tackle issues like rising obesity, varying standards on health labels, and the adoption of digital solutions for seamless cross-border trade.
