MIDA Flagship Annual Media Conference (AMC)

EUROCHAM Malaysia was invited to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) flagship Annual Media Conference (AMC) regarding the announcement of Malaysia’s 2021 Investment Performance in the manufacturing, services, and primary sectors that happened yesterday, Tuesday, 8 March 2022. The announcement of the investment performance was then made by YB. Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

The Annual Media Conference (AMC) started with welcoming remarks by YBhg. Datuk Arham Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). Deputy Minister Senator Datuk Lim Ban Hong was also in attendance during the media

Media Statement | YAB Prime Minister – Transition to Endemic Phase

A media statement has been issued by YAB Prime Minister regarding the Transition to Endemic Phase – media statement as follows:

A. ‘TRANSITION TO ENDEMIC’ PHASE

1. In recent weeks, the number of daily cases of COVID-19 increased sharply as a result of the Omicron waves. However, the number of patients in Categories 3, 4, and 5 are very low at 0.7 percent. Several COVID-19 patients that need to be treated and monitored at The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are also controlled at the moment which is at an occupancy rate of 42 percent.

2. At the same time, most members of the Malaysian Family have received a complete vaccination as well as a booster dose through vaccination programs especially the COVID Immunization Program-19 Nationals (PICK), Adolescent PICK, and PICKids. Until 7th March 2022, the complete vaccination rate for the adult population in the country is 98.7 percent; while the booster dose vaccination rate for the adult population is 64 percent.

3. Overall, the country’s planning to reopen in stages or following the ‘Reopening Safely’ plan which is undertaken by the Government, especially through the Ministerial Quartet, and is running smoothly under the Senior Minister of Defense, YB Dato ’Seri Hishammuddin Hussein; Minister of Health, YB Khairy Jamaluddin; Minister of Finance, YB Tengku Zafrul; and the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
