We thank Mr. Iskandar Ismail, CEO of MyCC for welcoming and accommodating the EUROCHAM Malaysia team, led by Mr. Sven Schneider, CEO of EUROCHAM Malaysia to your esteemed office for an in-depth discussion on the way forward in creating value for the EU-MY business community through “Smart Partnership” initiatives.

EUROCHAM looks forward to more collaborative efforts, exploring opportunities as well as developing strategic plans and future engagement with MyCC by creating awareness in strengthening international cooperation with competition agencies in the EU through an array of promotion and advocacy programmes and campaigns.

On behalf of SIRIM QAS International, we would like to share the Guidelines for Importation and Inspection of Metal Scrap and Waste Paper January 2022; Edition No: 1 for the reference of EUROCHAM Malaysia members.

This guideline will include the scope of application, pre-conditions/ore-qualifiers for COA application, Procedure for importation and inspection of metal scrap and waste paper into Malaysia, SIRIM schedule of fees, as well as client charter, and glossary of terms.

Malaysia’s manufacturing sales value grows 18.8% to RM142.4b in November 2021

Malaysia’s manufacturing sales in November 2021 stood at RM142.4 billion, growing 18.8% compared with the same month in 2020, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) said.

In its monthly manufacturing statistics for November 2021 report, Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the sales value increased 1.2% from the previous month.

“The growth in sales value for this month was driven by the petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products subsector (29%), especially in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products industries.

“The expansion was also attributed by the food, beverage and tobacco subsector (20.7%), supported by the manufacture of food products industries, as well as the electrical and electronics products subsector (17.8%), mainly in the manufacture of computer, optical and electronics products,” he said in a statement.

The programme is available to resolve various indirect tax liabilities such as import duty, export duty, sales tax, service tax, excise duty, GST, tourism tax, and departure levy.
