MITI – NIMP 2023

EUROCHAM Malaysia had the privilege of being invited to the Ada Apa Dengan NIMP 2030 event, themed "Maju Industri, Maju Ekonomi Rakyat," alongside YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of MITI. This event, held on Friday, 8th December, is part of the government's initiatives under the umbrella of the celebration commemorating the one-year tenure of the Madani government.

The event provided valuable insights as YB MITI shared the existing economic challenges, including low complexity, stagnant productivity and declining investment. The New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) aims to address these challenges by focusing on developing the economy and achieving zero carbon.

The government has committed to various projects in collaboration with counterparts, encompassing water fabrication, advanced materials, smart factories, electric vehicles (EV) and decarbonisation. NIMP is expected to contribute significantly to the country, with projections indicating a 61% increase in GDP, a 20% rise in employment and a median salary target of RM 4,510 by 2023. The key sectors within the NIMP's focus include automotive, chemical, electronics and electrical (E&E), aerospace and advanced materials.

Commission welcomes political agreement on new rules to boost energy performance of buildings across the EU

The Commission welcomes the provisional agreement reached today between the European Parliament and the Council to reduce the emissions and energy use of buildings across the EU. The strengthened Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will support the EU's efforts to decarbonise buildings across the whole Union. This is an area in which the concrete impact of the European Green Deal will improve the quality of life for people, in their homes and workplaces, and lower their energy bills. This deal will also boost Europe's energy independence in line with the REPowerEU Plan and make a strong business case for a cleaner buildings sector in the EU.

Better performing buildings to lower energy bills and cut emissions

The revised Directive will set out a range of measures that will help EU governments boost structurally the energy performance of buildings, with a specific focus on the worst-performing buildings.
