The Commission welcomes the provisional agreement reached today between the European Parliament and the Council to reduce the emissions and energy use of buildings across the EU. The strengthened Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will support the EU's efforts to decarbonise buildings across the whole Union. This is an area in which the concrete impact of the European Green Deal will improve the quality of life for people, in their homes and workplaces, and lower their energy bills. This deal will also boost Europe's energy independence in line with the REPowerEU Plan and make a strong business case for a cleaner buildings sector in the EU.
Better performing buildings to lower energy bills and cut emissions
The revised Directive will set out a range of measures that will help EU governments boost structurally the energy performance of buildings, with a specific focus on the worst-performing buildings.

On behalf of our Intellectual Property Rights sector committee, we would like to share with our fellow members to help in participating in a survey to gain insight from our members on the pivotal issues related to Intellectual Property Rights for a webinar event in collaboration with the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk. This initiative aims to raise awareness about IP matters in South-East Asia that impact European SMEs. The webinar is available to SMEs in the EU and SMP countries, and the Helpdesk collaborates with European SME networks, chambers of commerce, and industry associations, offering its services free of charge.
The survey results will form the content of the webinar event and serve as the foundation for engaging with various local stakeholders and institutions on behalf of our members. We kindly ask you to share your insights with EUROCHAM Malaysia and the IPR Sector Committee by completing this survey.
We would like to welcome EQ Kuala Lumpur as a new member of EUROCHAM Malaysia! We are excited to work together with your esteemed organisation as we strive to bolster alliances and strengthen partnerships within the EU-MY business community.
EQ is the latest chapter in the legacy of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most well-known hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial was established in 1973 and quickly gained a reputation as a premier five-star destination, famed for its high service standards, and equally renowned for its stellar restaurants and bars. After 40 years as one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, a redevelopment was announced in 2012. EQ was unveiled in March 2019, as part of the much-lauded Gold-standard Green Building Index-accredited Equatorial Plaza. The 52-storey hotel tower is ultra-modern and environmentally conscious, yet infused with its predecessor’s legendary warmth and outstanding level of hospitality.
