EUROCHAM Malaysia will be celebrating our 30^th Anniversary this year!

We are very excited to share this extraordinary feat with all of our fellow corporate and strategic partners, members, bilateral chambers and associate stakeholders. We thank everyone for the ongoing and trusted support and we hope to continue our service to provide a better as well as to strengthen and bolster alliances for a prosperous EU-Malaysia partnership.

Industry 4.0 is revolutionizing the way companies around the world work, and Malaysia-based firms are taking advantage of government initiatives that are positioning them on the leading edge of the global manufacturing sector.

Extensive government support means that businesses with operations in Malaysia—both domestic and foreign—can integrate the latest technologies, from cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) to the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and machine learning.

A new generation of smart factories will operate more safely and efficiently—and be kinder to the environment—thanks to enhanced automation and customer service, a nimbler supply chain and clearer visibility across the organization, inevitably improving business outcomes.

This is the goal of Malaysia’s National Policy on Industry 4.0 blueprint, better known as Industry4WRD. Unveiled in late 2018, today it is powering the digital transformation of the country’s manufacturing sector and connected services by bringing together people, processes and technology.

EUROCHAM Malaysia had a productive meeting with our fellow corporate partner Ericsson today at our new office. We thank Mr David Hägerbro, President & CEO of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Mr Afrizal Abdul Rahim, Head of Government & Industry Relations, Ms Evelyne Wan Mokhtar, Senior Manager of Government Industry Relations for taking the time to drop by our new office and for the insightful and fruitful meeting together with EUROCHAM Malaysia CEO, Mr Sven Schneider and the advocacy team as we discussed various topics including the initiatives that could strengthen the relationship of both organisations including the planning of potential engagements, events and collaborations.

EUROCHAM Malaysia looks forward to increasing our engagement with companies, and organisations such as Ericsson to strengthen our directions and initiatives with the EU-MY business community.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a press release regarding the Rebranding Of The Ministry Of International Trade And Industry – press release as follows:

In line with YAB Prime Minister's decision in the Cabinet Meeting dated 5 April 2023, the name of the Kementerian Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) has been rebranded and is now known as KEMENTERIAN PELABURAN, PERDAGANGAN DAN INDUSTRI or in English, MINISTRY OF INVESTMENT, TRADE AND INDUSTRY, retaining the same acronym which is "MITI".

This rebranding coincides with the Ministry's functions in leading and being responsible for encouraging foreign investments, empowering local investments, strengthening international trade and empowering sustainable industrial development.

EUROCHAM Malaysia has been working closely together with the related ministries and government agencies as well as being part of the recent workshop and government engagements to facilitate this decision. We are happy to see more positive outcomes from the outgoing engagements with the ministries and we look forward to more engagements to facilitate more positive results like these. The expatriate permit application process will be shortened from 87 days to five working days beginning June.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the five-day processing period was for new permit applications or permit renewal.

EUROCHAM Malaysia extends our heartiest congratulatory wishes to our fellow Board of Director and Airbus Chief Representative Malaysia, Mr Raymond Lim, on being awarded the prestigious recognition of Ordre Nationale De Merite (National Order of Merit) from the Ambassador of France to Malaysia HE Mr Axel Cruau on behalf of the President of France at the Chevalier De L'Ordre National Du Merite Ceremony held at the Residence of France, Kuala Lumpur.
