EUROCHAM Malaysia will be collaborating with our fellow bilateral chamber, the Irish Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (ICCM) on the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, in Ireland with the EU in Malaysia.

“Celebration St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland with EU in Malaysia” is a Business Networking Breakfast hosted by the Irish Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (ICCM) and EUROCHAM Malaysia to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It is an opportunity to hear from the Chairman of EUROCHAM, Mr Oliver Roche reflecting on Ireland with the EU in Malaysia and from our Guest of Honour, Minister Niall Collins T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science with Special Responsibility for Skills and Further Education, reflecting on areas of interest to the Irish community in Malaysia and as relevant to the business and professional attendees.

EUROCHAM Malaysia has been working closely together with Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) as well as being part of the recent workshop and government engagements to facilitate this decision.

As we aim to be the united voice of the EU business community in Malaysia, we strive to create opportunities through our engagements with the Malaysian government. EUROCHAM Malaysia is happy to see a more positive outcome from the workshop and we look forward to more engagements to facilitate more positive results like these.

On the 10th of March 2023, EUROCHAM Malaysia was invited by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to a workshop to improve the efficiency of expatriate work permits in Malaysia, which was held in Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. The Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR), the Expatriate Service Division (ESD), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC),  the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), the American Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Talent Corporation Malaysia, and other industry participants were present. The workshop highlighted numerous concerns about expatriates’ working visas, which have generated huge challenges.

All of the issues brought up are being taken into consideration by MOHR and other government agencies, who will then present these concerns to the federal government. A number of engagement meetings will be held with different business chambers and industry leaders to hasten the issuance of Malaysian work permits for expatriates, which could in turn stimulate the country’s economy.
