Virtual engagement session organised by Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia

In response to the recent media release by Kementerian Sumber Manusia (MOHR) in regard to the foreign employment in Malaysia (https://www.eurocham.my/news/?pagedetail=1782), we joined an engagement session organised by Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia

(MITI) today. We shared our concerns and presented our recommendations during the session, which were also reiterated into our Position Paper: EUROCHAM Malaysia Highlights the Impracticality of the Requirements and Impositions on the Recruitment of Foreign Workers and Expatriates.

It is EUROCHAM Malaysia's constant drive to safeguard the dynamic interplay between domestic and European interest. This position paper aims to protect foreign expertise accessibility, as well as to promote recruitment freedom, allowing European companies to recruit the best candidate regardless of nationality. We have shared the paper to MOHR and we strongly urge for an open dialogue with YB Minister of Human Resource to seek ways in balancing domestic priorities and international expectations. The paper was also forwarded to:

  • Malaysian Prime Minister's Office, Putrajaya.
  • Prime Minister's Department
  • (Economic Affairs)
  • MITI
  • Ministry of Home Affairs (Malaysia)
  • Economic Planning Unit
