[UPDATE] PROGRAM IMUNISASI INDUSTRI COVID-19 KERJASAMA AWAM SWASTA (PIKAS) FOR MANUFACTURING SECTOR

Dear EUROCHAM Members,

As part of EUROCHAM’s coordination effort on Covid-19 vaccination roll-out with all Bilateral & Associate chambers as well as the advocacy work of many chambers and associations finally resulted in a practical response by the government of Malaysia in the form of a launching announcement of the Covid-19 Public-Private Industrial Immunisation Program (PIKAS) as Phase 4 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK) that will involve immunisation of employees in the manufacturing sector.

While EUROCHAM Malaysia has been spearheading this initiative in different proposals also acknowledged by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, we do recognize that there have been significant delays as well as changes in how the final programme is to be executed. We apologise for the delays and hope that this progress is considered a positive impact of our advocacy work conducted together with the EU bilateral chambers as well as many other foreign and local chambers and associations. We also thank all companies for their patience and collaboration. We are finally able to proceed via PIKAS.

How does PIKAS work?

Participation is voluntary, vaccinations remain free of charge, while logistic costs may apply depending on the model chosen. The programme will be implemented at designated factories and industrial locations as well as the nearest vaccination centre (PPV) to the factory site depending on the model chosen.

Companies in critical manufacturing sub-sectors including electrical and electronics, food processing, iron and steel, medical devices, personal protective equipment (PPE), oil and gas and rubber products including medical glove manufacturing sub-sectors will be prioritised for vaccination. These sectors are critical in supporting the supply chain of essential products and services as well as the construction, maintenance and smooth functioning of critical infrastructures including utilities and public healthcare system.

Eligible member companies which are interested to participate are required to submit their applications detailing full company names, address, number of employees to be vaccinated, with name and contact details of person in charge to [email protected]. Members are able to download the PIKAS registration forms here, click the link here to download: https://www.miti.gov.my/redir/pikas/registrationform.html

EUROCHAM is excited with this progress and we thank all Bilateral and Associate chambers for their co-ordination effort as well as all companies for their collaboration in this regards.

We shall provide the answers to the type of vaccines to be used as soon as possible.
