A media statement has been issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) regarding Mytravelpass Exemption for Malaysia Citizens – media statement as follows:
The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) would like to inform that effective 1 October 2021, all Malaysian citizens who wish to leave the country for any of the purposes below, are given an exemption from applying for MyTravelPass (MTP) approval:-
1. New students who recently received an offer to study at a foreign university, accompanied by 2 escorts.
2. Current or older students who are continuing their studies abroad with 2 escorts.
3. Students sitting for examinations abroad accompanied by 2 escorts;
4. Emergency matters such as death and critical illness;
5. To meeting or reuniting a wife or husband abroad, where the marriage was only registered abroad;
6. Participating in sporting events, seminars, and meetings;
7. Participating in any humanitarian aid mission.
