Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) organised the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2022 between 6 October and 9 October 2022 with the theme, Sustainable Digitalisation Towards a Net Zero Future. EUROCHAM Malaysia’s CEO, Sven Schneider was invited to speak on a panel during the event on Green Investment and Financing on 7 October 2022.
Moderated by Frans-Anton Vermast (Strategy Advisor & International Smart City Ambassador, Amsterdam Smart City), it was an engaging session alongside Standard Chartered Saddiq Berhad’s Bilal Parvaiz (Executive Director and Head of Islamic Corporate - Commercial & Institutional Banking), Jacqueline Chang (Country Coordinator, Global Covenant of Mayor Asia) and Milly Lin (Senior Director, Far Eastone Telecommunications Co Ltd).
Challenges in the implementation of green financing and investment in both Malaysian and European landscapes were discussed and positive efforts were noted. Besides that, key approaches and impacts in catalysing green technologies. Examples of foreign countries with good practices the local private and public sectors were divulged as well as recommendations moving forward for a better mechanism in place to promote sustainable financing.
