EUROCHAM Malaysia Embraces Malaysia's Silicon Vision
EUROCHAM Malaysia is honoured to have been invited to witness the Launch of a Strategic Semiconductor Collaboration officiated by the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Representing EUROCHAM Malaysia at this historical event were our Vice Chairman, Pauline Goh, and Board Member, Simone Macario.
The event marked the groundbreaking announcement of Malaysia’s RM1.1 billion (€235 million) partnership with the UK’s leading semiconductor design firm, Arm Holdings. This collaboration heralds the beginning of Malaysia’s second semiconductor wave, shifting the nation’s role from a back-end player in chip testing and assembly to a front-end leader in chip design and innovation.
Key highlights of this strategic partnership include:
✅ The development of AI-powered “Made by Malaysia” chips designed, manufactured, tested, and assembled locally for global markets.
✅ A comprehensive training programme to nurture 10,000 integrated circuit (IC) design engineers, cultivating world-class local talent.
✅ The establishment of Arm’s first office in ASEAN, located in Kuala Lumpur.
✅ Privileged access for Malaysian companies to Arm’s cutting-edge technology and intellectual property portfolio, empowering local players to thrive in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
EUROCHAM Malaysia remains committed to supporting Malaysia’s economic transformation and fostering collaborations that pave the way for sustainable growth and innovation. Congratulations to the Malaysian government and Arm Holdings on this monumental achievement!
