Launching of the National Industry Environmental, Social, and Governance Framework [i-ESG Framework]

EUROCHAM Malaysia received an invitation to partake in the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry's (MITI) National Industry Environmental, Social & Governance Framework, known as the 'i-ESG Framework,' focusing on Phase 1.0: "Just Transition." Deputy Minister YB Liew Chin Tong presented an enlightening visual on the i-ESG Framework, aligning with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030's mission for a sustainable future and net-zero objectives.

The i-ESG Framework emphasizes four key pillars: standards, financing, capacity building, and market mechanisms, supported by 17 strategies and 50 deliverables to guide businesses, especially MSMEs, towards ESG compliance. Deputy Minister YB Liew Chin Tong highlighted its role as a practical roadmap for businesses, fostering ESG integration and accountability. Phase 1.0 (2024-2026) prioritizes a 'Just Transition' for MSMEs, promoting equitable opportunities.

MITI showcased the resources offered by the i-ESG Framework, including ESG Readiness Assessment (i-ESGReady) and the i-ESG Starter Kit (i-ESGStart), aiding companies in evaluating and reporting on sustainability initiatives. MITI is also organizing clinic sessions to guide 50 companies in initiating their sustainability reports, promoting ESG awareness.
