EUROCHAM Malaysia received an esteemed invitation to the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2023, organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 5th October 2023. IGEM 2023 is a crucial event driving the region's net zero and energy transition objectives, highlighting Malaysia's dedication to sustainability and international cooperation. Anticipated to surpass previous achievements, the event will draw a diverse global audience.
During this event, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof delivered an insightful speech, emphasizing the substantial potential of the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR) in generating revenue, boosting GDP, and creating jobs. This launch was a significant highlight of IGEM 2023 themed “Race Towards Net Zero: Leadership for Climate Action."
The HETR launch signifies Malaysia's commitment to energy transition, propelling the nation to a regional leader in renewable energy. It is anticipated that HETR will unlock opportunities worth RM824 billion in the global green hydrogen market by 2050. Furthermore, Malaysia is actively working towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 through various initiatives and legislative advancements.
