Penang’s RM420m Link Road To Silicon Island Targets First Bridge Opening By 2028

Penang has reclaimed 202.3 hectares of the planned 931-hectare Silicon Island since works began in September 2023, with the RM420 million Pan Island Link 2A marine bridge connecting the island to the mainland targeted for first-section opening by December 2028 and full completion by June 2029. Semiconductor and advanced manufacturing investors, R&D firms and infrastructure contractors may be affected, with the bridge construction and broader island development still years from completion.
