Budget 2027: Government Earmarks RM60m For Matrade, RM1b To Boost MSME Exports

09. October 2026
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim allocated RM60 million to Matrade for helping local companies diversify into overseas markets, paired with RM1 billion from Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad specifically to support MSMEs entering export markets. This matters across several funding channels: a new RM50 million UNIVC fund with KWAP aims to commercialise university research by absorbing early-stage risk to draw in private capital, RM142 million goes to the NADI e-commerce platform for young entrepreneurs, and RM50 million goes to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia to build digital airspace management and testing infrastructure for the drone-based low-altitude economy. MSMEs seeking export support, university researchers, rural digital entrepreneurs and drone-sector operators may be affected, with these allocations rolling out through the 2027 fiscal year.
