Budget 2027: Health Ministry Allocation Increased, RM1.2b Earmarked For Upgrading Of Public Facilities

09. October 2026
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim raised the Health Ministry’s Budget 2027 allocation to RM47.7 billion, up from RM46.5 billion, with RM1.2 billion earmarked for repair, upgrade and maintenance of public hospitals and clinics, and RM770 million for new equipment including haemodialysis facilities, 400 ambulances, and a robotic-surgery specialist hospital under Universiti Sains Malaysia. This matters for the private healthcare and medical equipment sectors directly: nine new public facilities are being built, and a separate RM200 million is allocated specifically for outsourcing patients to other hospitals to cut waiting times, a direct demand signal for private hospital capacity. Medical device suppliers, equipment manufacturers, training institutions and private hospitals accepting outsourced patients may be affected, with construction and procurement rolling out through the 2027 fiscal year.
