Selangor Attracts RM22.1b Investment From EU States In 2021-25 Period

13. October 2026
Selangor state executive councillor Ng Sze Han confirmed the state drew RM22.1 billion in approved investment from 16 EU countries across 308 projects between 2021 and 2025, creating 12,653 jobs, with the Netherlands accounting for the largest share at RM16.8 billion. This matters for the state’s semiconductor positioning specifically: Selangor committed RM50 million to a new investment fund with Khazanah Nasional and the Penang government to grow its semiconductor ecosystem, aligning with Budget 2027’s federal push, while EU Commissioner Jozef Síkela cited NXP’s near-€1 billion Petaling Jaya investment (backed by the EIB financing announced the same day) as proof of the partnership’s direction. European technology companies, semiconductor supply chain investors and Selangor-based manufacturers may be affected, with MEUFTA negotiations still targeting conclusion in 2027.
