Employers Urged To Use Job Coaches To Support Workers With Disabilities, Says Deputy Minister

11. October 2026
Deputy Minister Lim Hui Ying urged employers to use Job Coach services to help persons with disabilities adapt to roles and workplaces, framing training, workplace adjustments and inclusion of neurodivergent workers (autism, ADHD, learning differences) as productivity measures rather than accommodations. This matters directly for HR policy and CSR planning: Budget 2027 allocates RM1.5 billion for PwD support benefiting over 300,000 recipients, raising the Disabled Workers’ Allowance threshold from RM1,700 to RM2,000, and the minister explicitly called on companies to support hiring through CSR programmes. Employers building inclusive hiring practices and HR teams managing workplace accommodation may be affected, with 3,000 new PwD caregivers slated for specialised training and 15 rehabilitation centres being upgraded into specialised therapy facilities.
