The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) is calling for doctors to be consulted in the development of health insurance plans, particularly on issues related to medical costs and treatment. The association said insurers should consider doctors’ perspectives when designing policies to ensure that coverage and reimbursement structures reflect actual healthcare needs. MMA also raised concerns that insurance products with inadequate coverage could influence treatment decisions and affect patient care.
