NCER Explores EV, Automotive Investments as Part of RM470 Bln Target

The Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) is assessing investment opportunities in the electric vehicle (EV) and automotive sectors as part of its plan to diversify beyond its established electrical and electronics and semiconductor base. Two potential investors have been identified in EV batteries, while three are being considered in the automobile segment, including high-technology vehicle projects in Kulim, Kedah. The investments form part of NCER’s RM470 billion cumulative investment target by 2030, with around 45 per cent of targeted jobs expected to be high-skilled positions supported by cooperation with universities, polytechnics, TVET institutions and industry players.
