Malaysia’s Kemas early childhood education programme is set to enter a new phase combining technological skills with values and religious education to prepare children for changing future needs. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the programme will expand the use of Smart Class technology and smartboards, while a wider Quran memorisation programme is planned from next year. The move comes as early childhood education gains greater importance following the proposed reduction of the national school starting age from seven to six, with closer cooperation between federal and state governments needed to provide the necessary facilities.
