Counterfeit engine oils are posing a growing threat to Malaysian motorists and the automotive sector, prompting SIRIM QAS International to introduce the SIRIM 58 Standard Certification Scheme to help prevent fake and substandard products from entering the market. The new certification will allow motorists to verify engine oil authenticity by scanning the SIRIM Conformity Label through the MySIRIM app, providing greater transparency and assurance when purchasing lubricants. The initiative is expected to strengthen product standards, protect vehicle owners from costly engine damage and improve market integrity across the automotive industry.
